Crafting Your Perfect Type
A font guide platform designed to help non-designers choose the right typeface with confidence through contextual previews and clear guidance.
Year :
2021
Industry :
Design Tools
Client :
Concept Project
Project Duration :
10 weeks

My Impact :
User testing and feedback showed that non-designers felt more confident and less overwhelmed when choosing fonts using the platform.
By providing contextual previews, license clarity, and guided recommendations, the site reduced hesitation and improved decision-making during font selection.
Problem :
Choosing the right font was frustrating and unreliable for non-designers due to overwhelming choices, unclear licensing, and unrealistic previews.
Too many font options without clear use-case guidance
Unclear licensing for commercial use
Difficulty previewing fonts in real contexts
Confusion around language and symbol support

Solution :
A beginner-friendly font guide platform that helps users choose fonts with confidence through contextual recommendations, real-use previews, and clear licensing information.

The goal was to make font selection easier, faster, and more reliable for non-designers through clear guidance, realistic previews, and license transparency.
Feature Rationale :
Context-Based Filters
Helps users narrow choices by real-life use cases like YouTube, Vlogs, or Branding.

2. Realistic Font Previews
Shows how fonts look in actual layouts to reduce mismatch after download.

3. License & Language Indicators
Clarifies commercial use and character support at a glance.

4. Similar Font Recommendations
Helps users explore alternatives without restarting the search.

5. Beginner Font Guide
Supports first-time users with basic typography guidance.

My Role & Contribution :
I led front-end development and built the site from scratch.
While collaborating with teammates on research and design, I independently implemented the responsive website, translating UX decisions into a live, production-ready product.
Validation & Feedback :
User feedback indicated reduced confusion and increased confidence when selecting fonts, particularly among non-designers.
Reflection & Learnings :
This project showed that even subtle decisions like font selection can be significant UX challenges.
Building the platform end-to-end strengthened my ability to translate UX thinking into functional, user-centered products.
